Leadership Training Information

                 
Good News!  Cub Scout Leaders may now receive all required training in order to receive your patch and help your unit earn the "Quality Unit" award on-line.  Crossroads of America Council is the first council to offer Cub Scout Leader Training On-Line.  Here is an explanation of how it works:

Cub Scout Fast Start Online  (15 minutes) is the first class that every Cub Scout Leader should take.  This is also a great training for parents and anyone new to scouting or considering a leadership position.  Cub Scout Fast Start is an introduction to Cub Scouting.

Youth Protection On-Line Training (1-2 hours) is required for all registered scout leaders.  This same class is sometimes taught in a classroom environment.  Anyone may take this class as the information is helpful to anyone who works with youth.  Boy Scouts of America is quite serious about youth protection and requires this training for all adult positions.  Once you complete this course, fill out the information so that you will receive credit for compelling this course.  This information is automatically sent to the Crossroads of America Council.  You can also print out a certificate for your training records.

New Leader Essentials (1-2 hours) is required for all registered scout leaders.  This is the same class that was taught in our Saturday morning sessions before it became available on-line in the spring of 2005.  New Leader Essentials is an overview of Scouting, it's organization, purpose, advancement, uniforms, and leadership.  The video for this training is not yet available as part of the on-line class but you can get it by clicking here to download the 44 MB Windows Media file.  It is recommended that you have a high speed connection to view this file.  Once you complete this class, please print out the certificate and turn in to the District Training Chairman (Tom Travis) at a District Round Table Meeting or the Crossroads of America Scout Office at 1900 Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN.

The classes that were taught in our Saturday afternoon breakout sessions before they became available on-line in July 2005.  Leader Specific Training is an overview of the things you need to know in order to be successful in your pack leadership position..
